Key Data on Policing
underline
This digest, the first of its kind, will provide an authoritative account of policing in Britain today. Using statistical data on England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and wherever possible trends over time and international comparisons, we explain what that data tells us about contemporary policing in Britain.

Written in a user friendly and accessible style, this digest will be a vital resource for all policing services as well as providing insight to government and the public about what the police do and how well they do it. The digest includes a profile of policing, perceptions of the police and the service they provide; and specialist chapters on crime, communities, alcohol and drugs, children and young people, transport and performance and accountability.

Anyone interested in policing will know how hard it is to lay hands on comprehensive information about the British police. 'Key Data on Policing' will fill this gap admirably. The Police Foundation will pull together into a single authoritative reference book all those facts and figures that are presently scattered across a myriad of government and police reports and websites.
Professor Mike Hough, King's College, London

The digest is due to be published in Autumn 2008 and will be on sale from The Police Foundation for £29.95 (£24.95 concessions).
