The Association of Police Authorities (APA)
The APA is the national voice of all local police authorities in England and Wales, as well as the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the British Transport Police Authority. The APA forms a tripartite link between police authorities, chief police officers and the Home Office.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO)
An independent, professionally led strategic body. In the public interest and, in equal and active partnership with Government and the Association of Police Authorities, ACPO leads and coordinates the direction and development of the police service in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In times of national need ACPO, on behalf of all chief officers, coordinates the strategic policing response.
The Police Federation of England and Wales
The Federation is the representative body for the police service for all ranks up to and including Chief Inspectors.
Scottish Police Federation (SPF)
The staff association for police officers in Scotland
The Police Superintendents' Association
The Association is the sole representative body of officers of the rank of Superintendent who are members of police forces in England and Wales.
National Black Police Association (NBPA)
The Association’s aim is to promote good relations and equality of opportunity within the police services of the United Kingdom and the wider community.
The British Association for Women in Policing (BAWP)
The only organisation in the UK to draw members from all ranks and grades of the police service, both male and female. The Association helps to enhance the role and understanding of women employed in the UK police service.
The Gay Police Association (GPA)
The Association exists to work towards equal opportunities for gay police service employees, offer advice and support to gay police service employees and promote better relations between the police service and the gay community
