Audit Commission
The independent public body responsible for ensuring that public money is spent economically, efficiently, and effectively. Though not strictly a policing related body, the Audit Commission is responsible for the financial audit of police authorities and auditing best value performance plans. Their national studies support service improvement.

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC)
Her Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary (HMIs) are charged with examining and improving the efficiency of the Police Service in England and Wales. HMIC is independent both of the Home Office and of the Police Service.

Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC)
The IPCC's job is to make sure that complaints against the police are dealt with effectively.

National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA)
The NPIA is the national organisation responsible for providing leadership, expertise and support to police officers across the country.

The NPIA produces a monthly digest that 'aims to capture and consolidate topical and key issues, both current and future, impacting on all aread of policing'. You can sign up to receive the digest here.

Provides an independent and impartial complaints service for members of the public about the conduct of police officers in Northern Ireland
