The Briefing
We are producing a new series of publications which provide an independent assessment of specific aspects of policing. Briefings provide a balanced and authoritative statement on the position of policing in relation to a wide range of topics.
Each edition of The Briefing gives a short yet comprehensive and accessible analysis of a specific issue. They provide a valuable insight for practitioners and policy makers, for police officers and staff, police authority members, politicians, academics, journalists and the general public.
Topics include:
-
The use of DNA in Policing
-
Police community support officers
-
CCTV
-
Anti-Social Behaviour
-
Policing Mentally Disordered Offenders
-
Prolific and other priority offenders

"The Briefing is an innovative, easy to read summary of contemporary policing issues which will be of particular interest to front line staff and those who lead them. I especially support the broad perspective that The Briefing brings to contentious issues like CCTV, stop and search and that the argument is always bolstered by references which the reader can see for themselves".
