Consultancy
Citizen-focused policing
The Foundation provided bespoke research and consultancy to Norfolk Constabulary to help them improve the way the police engage with local people and to develop citizen-focused policing across the force and enhance citizen satisfaction. We also started a small project on response policing and we published a literature review on citizen-focused policing in 2009. To find out more about the report or to purchase a copy click here.
Independent Academic Advisory Group (IAAG)
The Foundation, in line with its remit to foster independent, evidence-based solutions to policing problems, set up an Independent Academic Advisory Group to provide independent, expert advice to the police on the evaluation of the reassurance policing initiative and the neighbourhood policing programme. Chaired by Rod Morgan, it offers the police and the Home Office the opportunity to access the professional knowledge of a wide range of academic experts.
Operation Pathways
The Foundation provided advice to the Metropolitan Police Service on the evaluation of their Operation Pathways, an initiative to combat serious youth violence in London.
The Independent Review of Policing
The Director of the Foundation co-led one of the four strands, on local accountability, of Sir Ronnie Flanagan's Independent Review of Policing. Many of the recommendations in Sir Ronnie's report, published in February 2008, have fed directly into the Government's Green Paper on Policing, 'From the neighbourhood to the national: policing our communities together'.

HMIC Thematic
Dr Janet Foster provided HMIC with the benefit of her expertise in the development of their thematic review, 'Leading from the frontline: HMIC Thematic Report 2008', published in the summer of 2008. This gave the Foundation an excellent opportunity to influence the quality of inspection methodology as well as the findings of the thematic itself.
