Blair Gibbs is a public policy expert and former government advisor.  He worked as a senior civil servant in the Ministry of Justice, and before that, as Policing Advisor in the Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC).  His most recent government role was as Special Advisor for Home Affairs in the Prime Minister’s No.10 Policy Unit (2019-20).  He has consulted on crime, policing and drugs policy for governments and police commissioners, and run his own policy consultancy firm in Canada.  His main areas of interest are in technology, drugs policy, and police reform. He was a member of Stanford University’s SNAP programme, working to translate new findings in neuroscience to policy-makers, and helped establish the Canadian Centre for Recovery Excellence (CORE), an Alberta-based centre of excellence focused on reducing addiction and the crime associated with drug misuse. He has written widely on police reform and appeared frequently in the media as a commentator on policing and crime issues, both in the UK and North America.
